Iced over pond

Saw this as I was driving along from Binghamton to Arlington and it really caught my eye. The naked structure of the tree along with the beauty of the pond and the surrounding countryside was wonderful.

Rotten Trees

This is the end of a willow that decided to die. Fortunatly it fell only on the garden and not on the house in the huge winds we have had.

Yellow world

This is the view outside of my kitchen. It was suggested to take a picture and I agree, even though I stand at this window doing dishes I always see it at night, without colour.

First Snow!

Just love the first snow. It reminds me of looking out in school and seeing the snow fall.

Pickled Canned Peppers

Had to open another jar of pickled jalapeno peppers, and I was struck by how pretty it is, even after sitting on the pantry shelf for about a year.

The end of Summer

We went out to the local farm where we have our CSA share and caught these sights. The end of growing season the start of the time for plants to rest and recoup.

And of course, haybales everywhere drying out for the winter.

Picturesque Harz Mountains

What a drive! Anyway, driving along (again) I noticed this sight and decided it needed to be captured. What is not present in the photo is all of the mountains around here and how difficult it is to drive them. That's a workout!

Yellow Pines?

Driving along from Zurich to Dusseldorf I noticed these trees along the '94' motorway in Germany. I have no explanation for these trees, and I can only guess that they are sick or dying, as evergreens should not go yellow. Right??

Footbridge over railway in Gdynia, Poland

During the worker strike in Poland soldiers were sent in to protect the shipyard from damage by the workers. A diffrent leader told the workers to go back to work. Due to a miscommunication, soldiers did not know that workers were supposed to go to work, and as they were getting off of the train trying to go back to work they were fired upon by the soldiers.

This footbridge over the commuter rail tracks was where they were fired upon.

MIsc Pictures from Switzerland

Below is an interesting vehicle for 2 people, gas or pedal powered.

And below is a view of the scenery that one can see along the road. I saw better but it was the autobahn and I was lost and frustrated.

City of Lucerne, Switzerland

This is the skyline at night in Lucerne. I took a few wrong turns and ended up with this sight. Its nice what can happen when you are lost.

Wicked old elevators

Ok so some people get on older elevators but this is one of the oldest elevators I have been on (that works!) Small, cramped and rickety, it was better than going up the 5 floors on the stairs.

If you cant see it, max capacity is 375kgs, and it was built in 1956.

Dawn in Dortmund

I woke a little early in the hostel that I was staying at and was getting ready for the day when I was idilly thinking and looking outisde. Deja vu... I had a similar sight to this the first day I was in Frankfurt in April of this year. How I have come full circle.

Dusk over Nordrhein-Westfalen

Driving along the A2 for about 190km, dusk started to fall and I was struck by the colors in the sky and the silouttes created by the waning light. I'm sure that I could have taken more amazing photos but this is the best you get when the driver is also the photographer on the autobahn.

Power Transmission (Electrical)

Ok so we have some wind power now, but how to get it from place to place. This is a transmission tower in Germany, in Bollensen. Few places in the modern world where you can walk right up to a transmission tower.

These posts did not actually mean to be together, but it ended up that way. Ah well!

A walk through the Forest

Pretty little path through the forest in Germany. Walked to the local cementary and back.

On the way back, I saw some sheep, long wolly ones laying in the feild.

Sheep and Neuclear Power

Ok normally not connected but driving around on Sunday, I ran across this interesting sight of having these nice sheep with the nuclear power plant in the background

I was struck by the wonderful sight below though. The sun reflected in a little canal, and a church in the distance. Very pretty.

Traffic in Eindhoven, NL

Traffic getting to Tilburg, NL from Dusseldorf, GR was awful. Here is a shot of traffic near Eindhoven, NL. Interestingly they have the stoplights to get into the rotary. That's crazy!

Porto Palatino, Turin, Italy

So this is the Porto Palatino, and specifically the old wall built by the Romans... Cause once again Europe; its where the history comes from. Anyway in the background you can see the bell tower for the Catherderal of Saint John the Baptist, this was attached to the palace of the House of Savoy.

This little guy was seen poking his head out of the wall built by the Romans.
