Sai Kung

So it seems to have been a long time since I updated this blog! How times have changed. I have switched over to primarily using G+ as a method of uploading images and such. Unfortunately blogger has not seemed to keep up with the 'new' way of doing things.

These pictures are from my latest trip to Hong Kong where I went to Sai Kung and got to the beach. I am not traditionally a beach going person but I can appreciate the beauty none the less.

The heat in the day was positively oppressive. It was 88°F, feeling like 100°F+ the bus and taxi were fortunately airconditioned but they do not get all the way to the beach, and there was a 1 mile hike to get in.

The scenery was spectacular on the beach with few beach goers and a few boats moored in the bay.

Flowers along the trail gave little bursts of color along with the interspersed butterflies.

This was the view from the taxi leaving the beach. I should have planned the trip out better but it was a beautiful relaxing day.

Snow!

Finally it snows and we are flying to somewhere without snow. Unfortunately it sounds like we will be back and the snow will be gone again. Ah well!

Snowshoeing in Gunsto

So two weekends ago I got my first pair of snowshoes. One week ago my car was in the shop and laid up. However a rental car with unlimited miles is not a thing to waste, so we went up to Gilford, NH (instead of Montreal as temporarily planned) and went snowshoeing for 2 hours or so. This was the view from close to the top of the ridge (which we did not get to).

Another food entry. Might not be quite so colourful in the picture but it was wonderful!

Ice in the marsh

Walking along in the blue hills reservation I came across this just barely icy water on the marsh. The mild winter has not set the ice as hard as usual, so any ice seen is a welcome sight.

Pad Thai

It has been a while since I have posted here, lots of life happening, not enough time to photograh enough of it or post. Dinner last night was particularily beautiful and deserved to be posted.

Turquoise Rivers & Lakes

Driving around the Interlaken region in Switzerland we came across several rivers and at least one lake with this turquoise color. We had a good discussion trying to figure out what elements would make these colours. Any thoughts?

Flying though...

So having not taken a vacation in a while, resulted in me setting up a vacation to Europe for my family and I. Suffice to say this trip has started on a decidedly poor foot and will hopefully get better. Time will tell. This was in Interlaken, Switzerland, watching these parachute jumpers jumping from a local cliff/mountain. I did not end up doing this, but it looked fun.

Wisteria's Flowers

So next to the driveway, there is a large wisteria growing on through the chain link fence. Usually it ends up growing out of control and just being green and leafy. Having been in China last year very often resulted in me not seeing/noticing its blooms much. This year was different and I was happy to see the blooms and how beautiful the wisteria is. Now to keep it trimmed through the summer!

Plum Tree in Bloom

Last year I was not present for when the Plum tree bloomed. This year, I got a chance to see it in progress. Still not quite at the leafy stage, it is very pretty with its white flowers.
